Learning how to play piano is not an extremely difficult task that has stringent age requirements, contrary to what some people think. Although there are advantages to learning at a young age, the piano is an instrument that can be mastered by anyone with the guts to persevere. The first requirement to learning this instrument is owning or having access to a piano.

Because the piano is a large and expensive piece of equipment, having a smaller and less expensive keyboard is a decent substitute for beginners. The main difference between these two instruments is that the keyboard has 66 keys, while the piano has 88 keys. Another important difference is that the piano keys are larger and heavier, making it more difficult to play for beginners.

This is an instrument that has been around for several hundred years and has been the subject of much study over the years, out of which many different methods for learning and teaching this instrument have emerged. Several people adopt the “learn by ear” method, which is where they simply fiddle and learn by trial and error. This method is rather ineffective and several bad habits can be acquired by attempting such a task without a proper tutor or instructor. In order to learn how to play the piano properly, a tutor of some sort is required. This can take the form of online video tutorials, DVDs, books or an actual teacher.

Those who are quick learners and have a lot of motivation will find that videos and books are very effective instructors and will be able to learn many different chords and even a little musical theory. A private teacher is generally considered more effective, as the teacher can modify the syllabus to suit the pupil's strengths and interest. Attending a music school also affords one the opportunity to learn musical theory (sheet music) properly.

The act of reading sheet music is a complex task, which takes some study, a little instruction and a lot of practice. Learning how to read sheet music enables one to be able to play complex compositions almost instantly, rather than trying to figure them out by ear. That being said, “Ear training”, or learning to recognize musical intervals and tonal changes is a very important skill which is also taught by professional teachers. Once a method for learning has been appropriated, the next and most important element is practice. Skill and proficiency at this instrument is not absorbed and can only be achieved by steady and faithful practice. Learning how to play piano is something that can be achieved by a person of any age. The important thing is to choose an appropriate learning method on how to play piano and dedicates enough time to practice regularly.

rocket piano is a method for learning piano that seams very promising to learn to play the piano in a convenient way. The basic points reviewed are:

Likes:

1. ebooks (beginner + intermediate + advanced), this is a logical organization and very convenient way so I like this way of organization a lot. Plus this, gives you more materials on specific ways to do things like jazz and gospel.

2. Videos: to learn visually.

3. Sound files and diagrams

4. Price: the digital version of downloadable files is $39.95 that has a similar price for other products in with similar characteristics and the range is affordable and really cheap compared to a traditional piano teacher.

Conclusion: Honestly, if you want to go for a secure buy on customer satisfaction because you only have the ‘exact money’ for just one course, take other course already rated to be completely sure. If you can afford to buy other in the case it isn’t what you are looking for , it is still a good try due to the organization of the information on beginner + intermediate + advanced, that other methods sell separately. Also, buy the digital version to save money unless you really like it to have it printed.

Piano chords are formed by playing three or more notes simultaneously.

The Major Chords

Start with the root of the chord then apply the following rule,

Rule: The Major chords consist of an interval of 4 half tones followed by and interval of 3 half tones.

The Minor Chords

Start with the root of the chord then apply the following rule,

Rule: The Minor chords consist of an interval of 3 half tones followed by and interval of 4 half tones.

The 7th Chord

Start with the root of the chord then apply the following rule,

Rule: The 7th chord consist of an interval of 4 half tones followed by and interval of 3 half tones followed by and interval of 3 half tones.

Thus, the 7th has 4 notes instead of 3 in the previous chords.

For a complete review of chords and variations I recommend to pianochords that has a full material on how to create all the chord variations. It includes all Major, Minor, Augmented, Diminished and extentions 6th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 13th and chord progressions. It really is a material that can be extreamly helpful to learn and understand chords.

Music-GClef.svg G clef (Treble Clef)
The centre of the spiral defines the line or space upon which it rests as the pitch G above middle C, or approximately 392 Hz. Positioned here, it assigns G above middle C to thesecond line from the bottom of the staff, and is referred to as the “treble clef.” This is the most commonly encountered clef in modern notation, and is used for most modern vocal music. Middle-C is the 1st ledger line below the stave here. The shape of the clef comes from a stylised upper-case-G.
Music-Fclef.svg F clef (Bass Clef)
The line or space between the dots in this clef denotes F below middle C, or approximately 175 Hz. Positioned here, it makes the second line from the top of the staff F below middle C, and is called a “bass clef.” This clef appears nearly as often as the treble clef, especially in choral music, where it represents the bass and baritone voices. Middle C is the 1st ledger line above the stave here. The shape of the clef comes from a stylised upper-case-F (which used to be written the reverse of the modern F)
